Introducing New Product Line: Custom Batteries
You are here
Custom batteries use a specific combination of materials, cell design, and manufacturing processes tailored to meet the specific requirements of a particular application. There are many types of custom batteries, each with unique characteristics that make them suitable for specific uses.
A custom battery is built around a cell, which is the basic unit of a battery. The cell contains an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte. The anode and cathode are typically made of different materials that allow for the flow of electrons between them, while the electrolyte allows ions to move between the electrodes.
Depending on the application's specific requirements, custom batteries can be designed with different chemistries. For example, lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in consumer electronics and electric vehicles because of their high energy density, long cycle life, and low self-discharge rate. Nickel-cadmium batteries are often used in cordless power tools because of their high discharge rate and ability to withstand repeated deep discharges.
The design of a custom battery can also be tailored to meet specific requirements, such as size, weight, and voltage output. For example, some applications require very small and lightweight batteries, such as in medical implants. In contrast, others may require larger batteries with higher voltage outputs, such as electric vehicles.
Finally, the manufacturing process of a custom battery can be optimized to meet specific requirements. This includes everything from selecting materials and the cell design to the assembly process and quality control procedures.
Overall, custom batteries are designed to meet specific requirements and can be optimized for a wide range of applications. By tailoring the chemistry, design, and manufacturing process, custom batteries can provide superior performance, reliability, and safety compared to off-the-shelf batteries.
When do you need a custom battery?
- If you have unique power requirements that commercially available batteries cannot meet.
- If your battery has size and shape limitations, a custom battery may be necessary to fit within the available space.
- If you require special features, such as a high discharge rate or long cycle life.
There are two types of lithium battery packs:
- Hard Pack: removable from the system so the user can replace and recharge. For example, digital cameras, doorbells, and IoT devices.
- Soft Pack is a fixed pack in the system that cannot be removed; the system charges it. For example, mobile phones, wearable devices, Bluetooth mice, GPS devices, and laptops.
If your product requires longer life, increased efficiency, or special size, US Micro Products can help you design and manufacture the highest-performance battery for your application.
